The Broken Arrow Fire Department has been awarded a $1.1 million grant. The "Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response" grant comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Jeremy Moore, the Broken Arrow Fire Chief, hopes to hire nine new firefighters with these funds. The grant will cover the costs of salary and benefits for the nine firefighters.

The grant however will only cover these costs for two years. Chief Moore hopes that Broken Arrow voters will approve the public city tax, "Vision" which will be partly used to keep these firefighters on payroll.
