TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz "misconstrued" information from an earlier briefing when he remarked at an event that threats had been made against his office.
Agency spokesman Justin Green says Glanz had attended a briefing before he made the remarks where one of the topics was a peaceful protest by members of the national Black Lives Matter movement at a state fair.
The Tulsa World reports that Green said the "information got misconstrued between the briefing" and the event where Glanz made the remarks. Green says no credible threats have been made against Glanz or his employees.
The sheriff's office is the subject of a grand jury investigation looking into the agency after a volunteer deputy fatally shot an unarmed man.
