OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford says he's invited Archbishop Paul Coakley to be his guest this week as Pope Francis addresses a joint session of Congress on Thursday.
Francis is set to become the first pope to speak before Congress. The speech Thursday is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. There will be live coverage of the address on KWGS.
Coakley was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 as the fourth archbishop of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma.
Lankford says Pope Francis' speech will be a historic event not just for Catholics but all Americans. He says he's thankful that the archbishop can join him for the address.
