OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has affirmed the 30-year prison sentence given a woman following a fatal home invasion.
The court handed down the decision Friday in the case of 23-year-old Erica L. Bonner. Bonner was convicted of second-degree murder by a jury in Oklahoma County in connection with the Sept. 16, 2012, shooting death of 30-year-old Tiyrell Lomach.
Oklahoma City police responded to a report of a home invasion and found Lomach with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
Bonner was sentenced to 30 years in prison on the murder conviction and an additional 10 years for robbery with a dangerous weapon, with the sentences to run concurrently. Among other things, the appeals court rejected Bonner's claim that her sentence was excessive.
