NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — The National Weather Service in Tulsa says a possible tornado touched down near Okemah in east-central Oklahoma as strong storms moved across the state and into Arkansas.
Meteorologist Peter Snyder says there were no injuries or significant damage when the potential twister touched down about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Snyder said one to two inches of rain fell during the afternoon in LeFlore and McCurtain counties and more than an inch fell in Nowata and Washington counties.
Meteorologist Emilie Nipper in Little Rock says some of the storms moving into Arkansas appear to be weakening, but the possibility for a tornado continues.
