FAIRVIEW, Okla. (AP) — Two small earthquakes have been recorded in Oklahoma.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports a 3.7 magnitude quake at 5:55 a.m. Monday about six miles east of Fairview in northwestern Oklahoma and a 2.6 magnitude quake at 9:41 a.m. about six miles northeast of Guthrie in central Oklahoma.
No injuries or damage are reported.
Geologists say quakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and that damage is not likely in earthquakes of below magnitude 4.0.
Oklahoma's earthquakes have been linked to the injection of wastewater underground from oil and gas production. State regulators have ordered reducing the volume or shutting down some of the disposal wells.
