YUKON, Okla. (AP) — Yukon officials have met with an accounting firm to hear an update on recent investigations into financial irregularities that have put the city in a financial crisis.
The Oklahoman reports that the Yukon City Council and incoming city manager met Tuesday with Frank Crawford, an accountant with the Oklahoma City firm Crawford and Associates. Crawford was hired to look into inappropriate financial decisions that have left the city without enough funds to meet its obligations for the rest of the fiscal year.
Mayor John Alberts said after the hourlong executive session that he was disappointed with the situation and that he and the council are committed to addressing the problem.
Last week, city officials announced the discovery of financial irregularities, including $1.3 million improperly taken from a capital improvements bond account to cover general expenses.
