Tulsa Transit will expand its operation now that the Vision Sales Tax Extension has been approved by Tulsa voters. The plan, approved by voters this week, sets aside $57 million for Tulsa Transit operations and capital.

Tulsa Transit General Manager Bill Cartwright says the first priority will be starting Sunday bus service. He says that is something Tulsa has never had in the past.

Funding will also pay for two rapid transit lines. One will focus on Peoria Avenue  from 56th North to 71st South. The other route will be along 11th Street in Tulsa. Cartwright says once that service is up and running, the wait for a bus on the line should be no longer than 5-to-20 minutes. New buses will be purchased for the service.
