Residents who were forced out of their homes because of a wildfire in northeast Norman have been allowed to return.
About 100 people were ordered to leave their homes after the fire began shortly before 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Drew Daily with Oklahoma Forestry Services told reporters Friday afternoon that forward progress of the fire has been stopped after burning about .2 of a square mile near Lake Thunderbird.
Daily said firefighters would likely remain on scene into the night and return on Saturday to make sure the fire remains contained.
Norman Fire Chief Travis King said the cause of the fire was not immediately known and remains under investigation.
The fire was one of several in Oklahoma on Friday, including one that forced the closing of Interstate 40 in Pottawatomie County for about three hours.
