The Oklahoma Department of Transportation becomes the latest organization to officially sign-on to the collaborative effort to extend the Gilcrease Expressway across the Arkansas River.
The ODOT Commissioners met today in Oklahoma City. With Governor Fallin in attendance, the Commissioners voted 8-to-0 to join the effort. Prior to the motion to join the collaboration, by Tulsa Commissioner Pete Regan, several others spoke in favor of the plan. Governor Fallin, Transportation Secretary Gary Ridley, ODOT Director Mike Patterson and the Turnpike Authority's Tim Gatz all urged passage.
The link will connect I-44 with Highway 412. That will include a bridge across the Arkansas River. The section will be a toll road.
