Lankford Opposing All Biden DHS Nominees To Protest Lack Of Border Wall

Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), a member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said Wednesday he has opposed and will continue to oppose all nominees President Biden names to Department of Homeland Security posts as a protest against Biden not pursuing the completion of the previous administration's U.S.-Mexico border wall.

"What I've done is push in every area I can," Lankford said in a Facebook Live video. "I'm now blocking every DHS nominee -- in fact, I'm the only senator that's actually blocking every single DHS nominee to actually move through the Senate. I've got to get DHS's attention on this and say, 'The American taxpayers, Oklahomans, don't want to pay for not building the wall."

"We're not anti-immigrant -- we're just anti-illegal immigrant," Lankford said.

This week, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush sued the Biden administration over his stoppage of wall construction. Last month, the White House announced a plan to attempt to claw back funds allocated to the wall and redirect them toward environmental cleanup necessitated by its construction.
