Tulsa, Oklahoma – This week, the John Hope Franklin Center for Reconciliation in Tulsa will present its first-ever national symposium. The event is called "Reconciliation in America: Moving Beyond Racial Violence," and it happens from June 2nd (Wednesday) through the 4th (Friday) at the Downtown Doubletree Hotel. Many academics, scholars, and professionals are expected to attend the event's various presentations, discussions, and sessions. On our show today, we speak about this upcoming event with Julius Pegues, the John Hope Franklin Center's Chairman. As he tells us, on Thursday the 3rd at 3:30pm, the symposium will feature a Town Hall dialogue focusing on issues facing both Tulsa and the John Hope Franklin Center. This event is free and open to the public; featured speakers will be Dr. Scott Ellsworth and Hannibal Johnson. Later that day --- and this is also free to the public --- the noted legal / civil rights / racial justice scholar Dr. Paul Finkelman will deliver a keynote address at 5:30pm.
