Tulsa, OK – On toady's show, we speak with Daniel Woodrell, the widely acclaimed novelist and short-story writer whose books include "Winter's Bone" and "Tomato Red." Woodrell's writing has been compared to that of James Ellroy, William Faulkner, and Cormac McCarthy --- and his novel "Winter's Bone" was the basis for the Oscar-nominated 2010 film of the same title. He's also just published a collection of stories, "The Outlaw Album" --- and he'll appear tomorrow night (the 6th) at a Book Smart Tulsa reading/signing at 7pm at the Circle Cinema (near the corner of Admiral and Lewis). Woodrell joins us today by phone to discuss his latest book, and to define the "country noir" tag that is so often applied to his fiction. (For more about Woodrell's upcoming event in Tulsa, please visit www.booksmarttulsa.com.)
