Kickstarter Campaign Raises Money For Perfume That Smells Like Space

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. A spaceship bound for Mars will tell us a lot about how space looks and even sounds. But NASA has known what space smells like for a long time. The agency even developed a perfume to train astronauts. Now a Kickstarter campaign has raised more than half a million dollars to sell that perfume. Astronauts describe the smell like gunpowder, seared steak and hot metal - a luring choice for your next night out. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
