Meet Kwame Alexander, winner of the 2025 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers' Literature on May 2, 2025 at 6 p.m. at Hardesty Regional Library.
Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, publisher, producer and New York Times bestselling author of more than 40 books for all ages, from picture books to nonfiction for adults. His children’s book The Crossover received accolades including the Newbery Medal and the Coretta Scott King Honor Award, and is now an Emmy Award-winning Disney+ series created in partnership with Alexander’s production company Big Sea Entertainment.
The Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature gives formal recognition, on behalf of the Tulsa County community, to a nationally acclaimed author who has made a significant contribution to the field of literature for young adults. The award, presented by the Tulsa Library Trust, consists of a $10,000 cash prize and an engraved crystal book.

Join Tulsa-area cyclists for the 2025 Tour de Tulsa at River Parks, a spring tradition that’s been bringing riders together for over 30 years! Presented by the Tulsa Bicycle Club and set against the scenic backdrop of River Parks, this ride is perfect for cyclists of all ages and skill levels.
Choose from a variety of routes—whether you’re up for a 20, 50, or even 100-mile adventure, or prefer to keep it casual with our Family Fun Ride offering 5- and 10-mile options.
Not only will you enjoy great food, awesome rest stops, and full on-road support, but you’ll also be riding alongside a welcoming community of fellow cyclists.
Best of all, proceeds from the Tour de Tulsa support River Parks and their vision to provide the region’s premier public spaces for a diversity of outdoor experiences.
