Denver, OK – EPA: Williams, ConocoPhillips agree to penalties
DENVER (AP) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says two natural gas production companies have agreed to pay a total of $248,000 to resolve alleged violations of the Clean Air Act on the Southern Ute Reservation in southwest Colorado.
The EPA said Wednesday that Houston-based ConocoPhillips has agreed to pay $198,000 over problems that the company discovered at a compressor station. It also agreed to projects aimed at reducing emissions.
Meanwhile, Tulsa-based Williams Company has agreed to pay $50,000 and to expand a leak detection program at the Ignacio Gas Plant on the reservation. The EPA says it found problems at the plant and at a compressor station during its inspections.
