Oklahoma City, OK – Report: 16 percent yet to pass Okla. grad. tests

(Information in the following story is from: The Oklahoman, http://www.newsok.com)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma Department of Education report shows 16 percent of the state's high school seniors still must pass at least one state exam before being eligible to graduate next spring.

About 5,400 of the estimated 33,750 high school seniors in the state have yet to fully pass the tests.

The class of 2012 is the first to face the graduation requirements passed in 2005. The students must pass both Algebra One and English Two tests and at least two from among Algebra Two, English Three, Biology, Geometry and U.S. History.

Assistant state superintendent Kerri White told The Oklahoman that students have one opportunity this winter and one during spring to take and pass any needed tests. There are also alternate tests listed on the department's website.
