Midwest City, OK – Okla. boy, 13, found dead near air conditioner

(Information in the following story is from: The Oklahoman, http://www.newsok.com)

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (AP) Police in Midwest City say a 13-year-old boy was found dead next to an air conditioner outside a home, which police say suggests he may have inhaled refrigerant from the unit.

Authorities say the boy was found unresponsive early Friday evening.

The Oklahoman reports the boy's parents had seen him about three hours earlier and initiated the search for him. The child's name has not been released.

Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes says young people can find instructions on the Internet for how to inhale Freon gas from air conditioning units as a way to become intoxicated.

The practice can be fatal, and Clabes says parents should warn their children of the dangers.
