Clark, WYO – Proposal to drill in Shoshone Nat'l Forest dropped

CLARK, Wyo. (AP) An energy company is withdrawing its proposal to drill a natural gas well in the Shoshone National Forest in northern Wyoming.

The U.S. Forest Service says Windsor Energy Group notified it Tuesday that it won't proceed with the well northwest of Clark.

The Oklahoma City-based company initially applied to drill the well in the summer of 2008.

Forest officials had originally hoped to make a decision on the application by the following spring but they pushed back the timing several times. The Forest Service had planned to release a draft environmental assessment next month but will now stop the study.
