Valley Brook,OK – Man killed in shootout with Okla. police identified

VALLEY BROOK, Okla. (AP) Authorities have released the name of a man who shot and wounded three police officers as responded to a burglary call at a municipal building in an Oklahoma City suburb.

Two Oklahoma City police officers were assisting a Valley Brook officer on the call at Valley Brook City Hall late Thursday when a man they encountered on the property shot them.

Officers returned fire and killed 36-year-old Damien Jefferson Muncie. Valley Brook police officer D. Johnson and Oklahoma City officers Chris Grimes and Roy Mitchell were transported to local hospitals, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

The Oklahoma City police officers have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is helping look into the shootings.
