Sapulpa, OK – Turnpike reopened after spill, evacuees return
SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) The Turner Turnpike has reopened and residents returned to their homes after a hydrochloric acid spill from a tanker truck shut down the roadway and led to evacuations near Sapulpa.
No injuries are reported as a result of the Wednesday afternoon accident.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the turnpike was shut down about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after the driver of the tanker hauling the acid reported it was leaking.
OHP Lt. George Brown says the roadway was reopened in stages and was fully opened to all east- and westbound traffic about 8:30 p.m.
