Wreck Lawsuit

By AP

Fort Gibson, OK – Okla. wrecker services sue town over ordinance

(Information in the following story is from: Muskogee Phoenix, http://www.muskogeephoenix.com)

FORT GIBSON, Okla. (AP) Two Fort Gibson wrecker services owners are suing the Muskogee County town over a repealed ordinance that would've allowed their businesses to receive all towing calls in the city limits.

Lightning Wrecker owner Jeremy Rowe and R&R Wrecker owner Lisa Rowe allege they invested money in their businesses after a former Fort Gibson official assured them the ordinance would be followed.

In 2009, town trustees amended an ordinance in which wrecker services in the county were called on a rotating basis when towing services were needed. The other wrecker services obtained an injunction against the move, and trustees repealed the law.

City Attorney Forney Sandlin told the Muskogee Phoenix (http://bit.ly/v4kmsi) he couldn't comment.

The Rowes' attorney, Orvil Loge, says a decision hasn't been made on whether to issue a statement.
