DALLAS (AP) Riley Nelson threw three touchdown passes to Cody Hoffman, the last with 11 seconds left, and BYU beat Tulsa 24-21 yesterday in the Armed Forces Bowl for another 10-win season. The Cougars (10-3) wrapped up their season of independence by winning 10 games for the fifth time in coach Bronco Mendenhall's seven years.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) Stanford's Andrew Luck and Brandon Weeden of Oklahoma State passed up chances at the NFL for another season in college. The quarterbacks became friends while attending the Manning Passing Academy the last two summers and are expected to roll up the yards and points in Monday night's Fiesta Bowl.
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Washington State coach Matt Potter has been tapped to lead Oklahoma's soccer program. Athletic Director Joe Castiglione announced the hiring this week. Potter has taken Washington State to the NCAA tournament three of the past four years.
