TULSA, Okla. (AP) A Tulsa firefighter needed advanced life support procedures to restore his pulse and breathing after being injured in an apparent arson fire.

Authorities say 35-year-old firefighter James P. O'Neal was not breathing when he was rescued from a burning home at about 10 p.m. Saturday.

The Tulsa World reports Neal regained consciousness when he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. He was hospitalized in stable condition.

Firefighters were in a back room of the house when O'Neal lost consciousness.

Firefighters say the fire was deliberately set in a back room when the homeowner was away.

An arson investigation is under way.
