Okmulgee, OK – 2 Okla. deputies, 1 man shot, wounded in gunfight
OKMULGEE, Okla. (AP) Okmulgee County authorities say two sheriff's deputies have been wounded in a gunfight with a man in the northern part of the county.
Sheriff's investigator Mike Stacy told reporters that one deputy was hit in the chin area and the other was wounded by shrapnel during the late Sunday night gunfight northeast of Beggs. Stacy said both deputies are expected to recover while the man who exchanged gunfire with them was shot in the abdomen and is hospitalized in critical condition.
No names have been released.
Stacy says the shooting began after four deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call about 11:40 p.m. Sunday and the man opened fire on the deputies and they returned the gunfire.
