State Economy Up

By Ap

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma revenue collections continue to grow

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma finance officials say collections to the state's general revenue fund finished the first half of the fiscal year strong, with double-digit growth in November and December compared to the previous year.

Figures released Tuesday by the Office of State Finance show December collections grew by more than 19 percent compared to the same month in 2010, while collections outpaced the official estimate by more than 16 percent.

November collections were up more than 22 percent over the previous year's collections.

OSF Director Preston Doerflinger says November and December were the best two months of the fiscal year and put "an exclamation point on our recovery from the Great Recession."

Doerflinger says a key reason for the state's economic improvement is growth in the oil industry.
