Oklahoma City, OK – Mental health chief named interim Okla. DHS head
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma's commissioner of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services has been named the interim director of the state's Department of Human Services.
The Oklahoma Commission for Human Services voted Friday to name Terri White the interim DHS director until a permanent director is hired.
Howard Hendrick announced Jan. 24 that he will resign as DHS director at the end of February and White will take over as interim director on March 1.
White will continue as Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services director and says she will not accept the job of DHS director on a permanent basis.
White has been commissioner of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services since May 2007 when she was appointed to the post by then-Gov. Brad Henry.
