Edmond, OK – Edmond warns against dumping of household items
EDMOND, Okla. (AP) Officials in Edmond say the city's water quality is being jeopardized by people who dump trash and household items into waterways.
City water quality specialist Cody Gaines says people have dumped a refrigerator, 55-gallon drums and trash into a tributary that runs into the Deep Fork River and eventually Lake Eufala.
Gaines tells The Oklahoman (http://is.gd/mWmg50 ) that the dumping also endangers wildlife.
City officials warn that dumping allows contaminants to seep into groundwater and Arcadia Lake, which are sources of drinking water for Edmond.
The city asks residents to report illegal dumping and to properly dispose of their unwanted household items.
