A new traffic enforcement initiative in northeastern Oklahoma will go after the source.  Broken Arrow Police Sgt. Ed Ferguson says the when a person is arrested for D-U-I,  the plan is to find out HOW he-or-she got drunk.

The Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement announced plans  to go to the source.  ABLE Commission Agent Eric Smoot says it is a felony in Oklahoma to sell liquor to someone who is already intoxicated. He says they will go after the bars, servers  and stores that sold the liquor, if the person was already intoxicated at the time or purchase.

The crackdown is part of the “More Cops-More Stops” initiative.  It is paid for, in part,  with a federal grant. It will include area police departments, the Highway Patrol and The Alcohol Beverage Laws Enforcement commission.
