The founder of the Ken’s and Mazzio Pizza Chain has died. Tulsan Ken Selby opened his first restaurant near the University of Tulsa campus in 1961. He taught science during the day in the Tulsa School System and made pizza at night.
The company says in the first few years he worked mostly alone in the business. In 1965, he quit teaching an started working in the business full time and opened his second location.
He founded the Mazzio Corporation in the late 70s and franchised his operations with over 160 locations in nine states. His brands include Ken's Pizza, Mazzio Italian Eatery and Zio's.
