Tulsa Police: 146 Violent Gang Members Off Streets

KWGS News File Photo

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in Tulsa say more than 140 violent gang members were taken off the streets during a recent operation.

Officials say they also recovered 29 guns, $20,000 in cash and more than $22,000 in cocaine and other drugs during the operation, which ran from August to October.

Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan tells the Tulsa World that the department's efforts with the U.S. Marshals Service produced remarkable results in the area of gang violence.

The World says the arrests included two people in connection with a triple shooting outside a duplex in September. One of the victims died from gunshot wounds.
