Emergency notifications can now be sent directly to you. The City of Tulsa's new program, Tulsa Alert, will send you notifications of emergencies happening in your area.
City spokesman, Bob Bledsoe, says this program has been in the planning process for several years.
Bob Bledsoe -"It enables citizens to tailor what kind of messages they want to get. We can send out emergency notices. We will also be sending out information about things like meetings, and any interruptions in water service or events in Tulsa Parks."
He says he hopes that everyone gets out there to sign up for these notifications.
Bob Bledsoe - "There are 20 categories of information that are non-emergency categories that we might also send out. And people can enroll, and pick and choose what categories they want to be notified about, and what devices they want to receive them."
Notifications will begin September 9th. You can sign up now at the City of Tulsa website, or you can call the City's Customer Care Center at (9189)-596-2100.
