Bus Program Continues at TCC

Tulsa Community College has extended the TCC Rides Free Powered by Tulsa Transit program through the spring 2014 semester which allows TCC students and employees the opportunity to ride Tulsa Transit for free.  This is an extension of the pilot program announced by TCC and Tulsa Transit in August 2013.

TCC Rides Free powered by Tulsa Transit offers unlimited rides to TCC students and employees anywhere Tulsa Transit offers bus service through May 10.  TCC Rides Free topped more than 9,000 rides in the first month of operation and saw more than 31,532 rides for TCC students, faculty and staff during the fall 2013 semester.

“TCC is very pleased with the success of the pilot program.  The high response rate and the positive feedback we heard shows a proven need and desire, especially from students, to have more access to public transportation,” said TCC Vice President for Administration Sean Weins.  “In addition, the extension of the pilot program reflects on TCC’s commitment to increase access to higher education and also aligns well with TCC’s Green Initiatives to help improve the environment and reduce our overall carbon footprint.”

TCC students enrolled for the spring semester, TCC full-time employees and TCC part-time faculty will be able to ride Tulsa Transit for free by showing an official TCC ID with the TCC Spring 2014 sticker.  Students can pick up the TCC Spring 2014 sticker at Student Activities, Enrollment Services or Bursar offices on any TCC campus.  TCC employees can pick up a sticker at TCC Human Resources Office or Student Activities office on any campus.

The pilot program follows a popular concept that has been adopted in other cities across the country.  The TCC and Tulsa Transit partnership marks the first ever unlimited free ride program in the Tulsa area.  The pilot program extension is being funded through a partnership with Tulsa Transit and TCC is paying a flat contract fee.
