A state senator is making a last-ditch plea for his bill that would require county voters to first approve any horse slaughtering facility before it could open.
Lawton Democratic state Senator Randy Bass said today he's concerned about the possibility of a horse slaughter facility opening near the Oklahoma City Stockyards.
The Oklahoma Legislature last year ended the state's 50-year ban on the slaughter of horses for human consumption, paving the way for such a facility to open.
