Names Released of Officers, Woman Shot in Sulphur Standoff

SULPHUR, Okla. (AP) — Authorities have released the names of two officers and a woman who were wounded in a shootout in Sulphur.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says 45-year-old Lisa Schaapveld was shot several times Monday night after opening fire on Sulphur police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers as the officers entered a business where Schaapveld had barricaded herself inside with a gun and pointed the weapon at officers and at her head.

Sulphur Police Chief David Shores told The Ada News that the two injured officers are police officer Jason Conyer and Trooper Tracey Laxton. The officers were treated and released at a local hospital after the shooting while Schaapveld was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

A medical center spokesman said Schaapveld was in critical condition Wednesday.
