BIXBY, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say the pilot and a passenger aboard a small airplane were able to walk away after the plane crashed landed near Bixby.
A federal aviation administration spokesman told reporters that the plane apparently had a mechanical problem after taking off from Jones Riverside Airport on Friday and the pilot was attempting to return to the airport when the plane crash landed in a field east of Bixby.
The names of the two on board were not immediately released.
Images from the scene showed the aircraft lying on its top in the field with two wheels broken off and lying nearby.
