OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Restoration work at Oklahoma's Capitol building is forcing some Senate staff members to relocate into committee rooms and other makeshift offices.
The Journal Record reports that fiscal and legislative analysts are working in the fifth-floor committee room 535, which can hold every state senator, staffers and members of the public for meetings. Since late June, the room has been home to 21 employees from the third floor.
Work on the Capitol interior could take six years and at least $120 million to finish. Senate spokeswoman Malia Bennett says the temporary move for an estimated 45 staffers hasn't affected work flow.
Bennett says she expects the nonpartisan Senate employees will be able to move into their permanent offices on the third floor before session starts in January.
