Starting next week, residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinions about Broken Arrow’s trash service and the potential for curbside recycling. The City Council at Tuesday night’s meeting approved the survey questions Sooner Poll will ask residents through phone calls. Their responses will serve as a guide in the development and decision making process of future refuse and recycling services.
“The objective of the Sooner Poll survey is to engage the public and get their opinions, so as we build strategic initiatives for the future, we can determine where solid waste collection and recycling ranks in the minds of our citizens,” said City Manager Michael Spurgeon.
Next week, Sooner Poll will compile 400 completed surveys. This number of surveys exceeds industry standards for statistical validity and will allow Sooner Poll to analyze the responses as representative of all residents of Broken Arrow. Sooner Poll uses a combination of randomly-dialed landlines in Broken Arrow and cell phones of adults (age 18 and older) living in the City.
“Sooner Poll is calling strictly on behalf of the City of Broken Arrow, so residents should not be concerned that this is a telemarketing call aimed at selling them something,” said Lee Zirk, Director of General Services. “I encourage residents to participate in the call should Sooner Poll contact them. It’s a great opportunity to provide feedback on an essential City service that our community takes very seriously.”
