Oklahoma's secretary of finance says collections by the state's general revenue fund missed official estimates by 12.8 percent last month — but that another round of budget cuts at state agencies is unlikely.
Preston Doerflinger said Tuesday the fund collected $611 million in April, about $89 million below the estimate upon which the state budget is based and $62 million below collections in April 2015.
Most state agencies have seen monthly allocations from the fund reduced by 7 percent due to a midyear revenue failure. The reductions were required to maintain a balanced budget amid declining revenue collections due largely to declining oil and natural gas prices.
Despite of the downward slide in collections, Doerflinger says the general revenue fund should finish the year without additional across-the-board agency cuts.
