Studying in Library Turns to Shooting Scare

OSU

With so many recent school shootings, gunshot scares are becoming commonplace. Terror swept OSU Stillwater students this morning as gunshot noises filled the Edmon Low Library. At 11:15am the campus issued a tweet advisory: the Cowboy Alert stated “Officers are responding to possible reports of gunshots at Edmon Low Library. Officers are on scene attempting to confirm.” The tweet also advised students and faculty to avoid the area and ensured updates would follow.

Within the hour it took to release another statement, people took to twitter to express their concern questioning why the campus was not on lockdown, exclaiming, “the radio silence is really frustrating,” and pleaing for updates.

The OSU police searched multiple floors and finally issued an all clear. They believe the reported gunshots were most likely the sound of construction workers in the building.
