Tulsa Public Schools is seeking community input as it plans for the upcoming school year.
An online survey asks parents, students and members of the community how they feel about steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 — things like staggered schedules to allow for social distancing, a longer school year so there’s more time to disinfect classrooms, and shifting between traditional and distance learning if infection rates warrant.
"We are committed to being together for in-person learning as much as possible based on the most up-to-date health and safety guidance from the Tulsa Health Department. We will be fully prepared to welcome back all of our students full time, if we are able to do so," Superintendent Deborah Gist said in a statement. "However, if guidance or directives require periodic shifts to greater social distancing or to distance learning, we want to make sure we are over-prepared to support our teachers, students, and families."
The survey is open until 5 p.m. on June 12. More information about TPS plans for the 2020–2021 school year is available on the district website.
Employees and teachers will receive a separate survey.
