Bixby, Broken Arrow High Schools Shut Down Because of High COVID Numbers

Bixby and Broken Arrow public schools are sending high school students home for the next two weeks because of rising COVID-19 numbers.

Bixby Superintendent Rob Miller said in a Thursday update the district had hit a new high mark of 123 individuals from 95 different homes with active COVID cases.

Broken Arrow district officials announced Friday more than 700 students and staff either have tested positive or are in quarantine, crippling their ability to run Broken Arrow High School and Freshman Academy.

Ninth through 12th grade students in both districts will be on distance learning from Monday through Nov. 20. With Thanksgiving break the next week, they will not return to school until at least Nov. 30.

Other schools in the districts are not currently affected.
