On the Next ATJ: Jazz Impressions of the Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein
Here's hoping you can catch the next broadcast of All This Jazz, beginning at 10pm on Saturday the 11th, right here on Public Radio 89.5 (and online via "live stream" at publicradiotulsa.org).
We'll also offer, as per our happy custom, a 7pm re-airing of ATJ on Sunday the 12th on Jazz 89.5-2 -- which is this station's all-jazz HD Radio channel -- and please note that you can learn more about All This Jazz, and can always access the latest playlist information, at this link.
Each week, ATJ faithfully presents modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles...from Louis Armstrong to Joe Zawinul, from Geri Allen to John Zorn. And the second half of our two-hour program always carries a theme.
Next time around, as we listen back to a wonderful show that originally aired in November of last year, our latter-hour theme will be The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Thus we'll hear modern-jazz takes on tunes from "The King and I," "The Sound of Music," "South Pacific," "State Fair," and "Oklahoma!" --- as rendered by Christian McBride, Sonny Rollins, Bill Harris, and various other jazz greats.
Join us! Yours will be, without a doubt, a front-row seat.
(Also, just for those among us so inclined, All This Jazz now has a Facebook page. Thanks.)
