NPR SPECIAL SERIES: OUR LAND

Elissa Nadworny/NPR

NPR special correspondent Melissa Block is on a road trip and listening tour of the U.S. for an exploration called "Our Land."

Over the next several months, she'll profile communities small and large to capture how people's identity is shaped by where they live. She'll explore what it means to be from there, what gives them pride, how a community's identity has evolved over time, and what the future looks like to the people in that place. Each story will be strongly rooted in a sense of place, both from the voices heard and the scenes described.

From the Mississippi blues to pig farming in Iowa to the tale of an Uzbek familiy's American journey, you can listen to all of Melissa's incredible stories of time, place and peoplehere.
