By Rich Fisher

Tulsa, OK – The typical food-stamps recipient gets $1.33 per meal, or $4 per day. San Francisco chef and blogger Karl Wilder challenged himself to live on that budget for two months. Despite being a nutritionist, and having the time to shop for the best bargains, he found that he lost weight and couldn't eat a balanced diet. Today on ST, he recounts his experiment in full. Wilder writes the "Fusion on the Fly" blog, where he gives a detailed description of his food, caloric, and nutritional intake. Also on today's ST, our pop culture commentator Ian Shoales offers some thoughts about the past, present, and future of the light bulb.
