Tulsa, OK – On today's ST, we chat with author and journalist Emily Yellin, whose books include "Your Call Is (Not That) Important to Us: Customer Service and What It Reveals About Our World and Our Lives" and "Our Mothers' War: American Women at Home and at the Front During World War II." (Yellin has also written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, and other leading periodicals.) As she explains on our show, in regard to her popular "Your Call" book (which first appeared in 2009), over the past generation or so, customer service in America has become a mostly telephone-based industry, with companies everywhere repeatedly trying to find cheaper and cheaper ways of providing it. The result? We, as the phone-wielding shoppers and customers, routinely become seriously frustrated if not mad-as-hell upset.... Yellin will be appearing at the Tulsa City-County Library's "Chapters" Fundraiser, which will happen on Friday the 9th at 6:30pm at the TCCL's Hardesty Regional Library.
