Tulsa, OK – (Note: This program first aired earlier this year.) On today's StudioTulsa, writer Michael Wallis discusses his latest book, "David Crockett: The Lion of the West" (Norton), which attempts to discern the truth about this outsized personality. Wallis says that while most historians concentrate on the nature of the legendary frontiersman's controversial death at the Alamo, Crockett also lived an amazing (and somewhat unknown) life: as a scout, hunter, and crack marksman; as a champion in Congress for both the poor and the Indians; and as a humorist and storyteller who captivated a nation.
