Tulsa, OK – On our show today, we speak by phone with Gary Shaffer, CEO of the Tulsa City-County Library (or TCCL) system. Recently, the TCCL announced plans to completely redesign and refurbish its flagship facility, the Central Library, which is located in downtown Tulsa (at 4th and Denver). In fact, last month, on the 25th and the 26th, the TCCL held public forums to acquire input from library patrons (and all other interested Tulsa-area residents) on how the Central Library might best be renovated --- and other such forums are planned for the immediate future. Shaffer brings us up to speed on the modifications/improvements now being planned for the TCCL's headquarters. He also tells us that the actual renovation work will begin about a year from now. (By the way, if you have a comment or question --- or suggestion --- in regard to this upcoming renovation, feel free to send it to centralrenovation@tulsalibrary.org.) Also on this edition of ST, as today is Veterans Day, our commentator Barry Friedman offers a brief personal essay entitled "The Woman and the Flag."
