On this installment of our program, we are pleased to speak by phone with Michael Tilson Thomas, the renowned musician, conductor, and music director who has won ten Grammy Awards over the course of his still-thriving career (and who has appeared on scores of albums). Thomas has long served as music director of the San Francisco Symphony, a post in which he has flourished. Today seen by many as one of the world's leading exponents and advocates of classic music, especially in its modern or contemporary manifestations, Thomas is also the founder and artistic director of the New World Symphony and the principal guest conductor for the London Symphony Orchestra. In 2010, President Barack Obama awarded him the National Medal of Arts. Tomorrow night, Tuesday the 27th, Thomas will deliver a free-to-the-public lecture at 7:30pm in the Lorton Performance Center on the University of Tulsa campus; his address is part of the Presidential Lecture Series, which is sponsored by the Darcy O'Brien Endowed Chair.
