An agent of the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is at the scene of a reignited landfill fire in Rogers county, according to the DEQ’s Skylar McElhaney.
The fire blazed for several hours yesterday at the Waste Management landfill on the 13700 block of East 46th Street North. It was lit by a lightning strike from yesterday afternoon’s thunderstorm.
New flames arose around 6:30 this morning. They’re said to be contained as of 8 a.m., and the landfill is open.
McElhaney says the DEQ’s agent should have a report on any air quality effects from the fire later this afternoon.
